Cox wins at Solway
The Doodson sponsored British F600 Championship kicked off on 18th April in glorious sunshine. There was a good mix of old and new drivers, with a number of F600 drivers making their way from Central Scotland to try their hand against their English counterparts. The class managed 3 heats of cars from no fewer than 8 different clubs (SL, LM, SC, YD, CS, WR, S-D, & ST). A strong Solway contingent was also present, with 4 cars present from the home club. The first heats saw wins from the more established drivers in LM2 Andy Blomfield in his AzTig Car, SC60 John Aldred in his new self-built creation, and reigning BF600C Champion ARD driver Bryn Hawkins WR32.
The second set of heats saw the field reduced to 2 full heats after an incident in the first heat saw Leewood Champion of Champions LM1 Zoe Leyland and LM40 Andrew Dingley retire despite both completing the first heat. Second Heat wins went to 2008 BF600C Champion Terry Cox ST1 in his new superlight self built car, and Bryn Hawkins.
The A Main Final therefore comprised of Bryn Hawkins WR32, LM2 Andy Blomfield, LM44 Dave Wilding, YD80 Roger Jefferson in his new car, WR34 Jamie Ellison in his new self built car, 2009 frontrunner S5D Tom Aldridge, and ST1 Terry Cox. Terry Cox lead away from a wide gate, in his Kawasaki powered car and pulled out a lead from LM2, who upon making a challenge for the lead on lap 4 made a minor mistake which allowed LM44 to take second and push for the lead. The top 3 remained the same to the flag, with S5D finishing a solid 4th, from YD80, WR34, WR32, & SC60 (DNF).
The B final went to LM91 Andrew Wright, who managed to hold off a strong challenge from LM123 Michael Whalley, and the chasing pack which included SL2 Richard Lewthwaite, CS18 Tony Nicholson, CS20 Andy Watson, SL80 Phil Talbot, SL101 John Dawson, and SL102 Max Dawson.
The ladies class was dominated by Leewoods ladies champion of champions LM2 Suzanne Gibbons, who amassed maximum points from the chasing Anne Phillip in SC60. With 32 drivers competing around the country in F600 so far this year, it certainly looks like being a strong season for the class.

Engine Sealing
All drivers wishing to compete in the British F600 Championship must have their engines sealed.
This is done by the F600 Committee who will:
1. wire and seal between two rocker cover bolts
2. wire and seal between two bolts on the timing cover
Please can you ensure that the relevant bolts are drilled for the first round at Solway so that we can seal. On R6's the bolts can be drilled but it's often easier to weld tabs on the top of the existing countersunk bolts.
If you're struggling then please do not hesitate to contact one of the committee.
Engine seals can only be removed and replaced by committee members, and there's only one seal in existance which is unique.
Anyone found to have tampered with their seals or removed them without the permission of the committee will have all the BF600C points to that date stripped. No excuses or exceptions.
The F600 committee will also be checking all ECUs / Checking Carbs are as per model / checking exhaust primaries / compression throughout the season, please give the committee as much assistance as possible.
Here's to a great season's racing and another successful, enjoyable, and safe Doodson Sponsored British F600 Championship 2010.

Panda spotted at Pennine
F600 commitee member Bryan "The Mox" Leyland turned up at Pennine sporting a nasty looking black eye. Rumor has it he was talking when he should have been listening.
