Rules & Regulations

F600's will be built to NASA rule book with the following restrictions:

Chassis Construction

  1. Minimum wheelbase of 76", maximum track restriction of 2.0m as per NASA Specials rulebook rule 2.4, page 17.****
  2. Engine must be mounted in rear of the car and in front of the rear axle in a predetermined horizontal plane with the uppermost part of the engine cam cover no more than (565mm) above the bottom rails.****
  3. The centre-line of the engine (deemed to be between ports 2 & 3) must be located within 2" (50mm)of the centre-line of the vehicle, allowing a slight engine offset.****
  4. Engine transmission by chain direct from engine gearbox to axle sprocket, the axle and sprocket must lie within 2" (50mm) of an imaginary line drawn through the centre of both rear wheel hub centres (eliminates se of engine / drive as ballast and ensure drive shafts run at very low offset angle). Chain min of 5:20.*
  5. No LSD's or secondary gearboxes. Single tensioners allowed.
  6. Shock absorber specification permitted:
    1. Single adjustment on unit controlling both bump and rebound.
    2. No remote canisters.
    3. spring platform adjustment (springing free).
    4. Manufactured by Avo, Gaz, Protech or Spax only.
    5. Any further manufacturers of shock absorbers submitted for approval to the F600 committee would be considered for inclusion.****
  7. Chassis / vehicle to be equal about vehicle centre line (no offset wheels) +/- 25mm.
  8. Engine not to be used as an integral stress member of the chassis.
  9. Radiator, fuel tank and battery to be mounted to the rear of the roll cage rear hoop, in front of centre of rear axle and within the silhouette of the vehicle. Battery may also be mounted within the drivers compartment as per NASA ruling 9.7, page 27.****

Engine

With respect to classification 1, page 12 of specials rulebook.

  1. Engine to be an unmodified production 4 cylinder*, 4-stroke 16V* 600cc, carburettor derived**** motorbike engine other than 0.5mm overbore (for rebuild requirement only) e.g. Yamaha R6, Kawasaki ZX6RF ZX6RG, Honda CBR600F, Suzuki GSXR600 etc...

Fuel injection systems and fuel injection derived engines are prohibited. (F600 committee will look into their inclusion from 2008 dependant upon availability).****
  2. Carburettor as per manufacturer with the make and model applicable to the engine, jetting and filters free. **** Flat slides not allowed.*****
  3. Engine must carry manufacturers original model numbers.****
  4. No engine components / ancillaries to be modified from manufactures specification no additional after-market components to be fitted into the ignition system and/or ECU.****
  5. Gearbox to remain as standard.
  6. Engines to be sealed as deemed necessary by the F600 committee.
  7. If after basic cc checks there are abnormalities the owner will be given a choice of 3 reputable independent motor cycle engine builders for a full strip and report. If the engine is found to be illegal the owner will be liable for any carriage and labour costs incurred.** If no abnormities are found the engine will be returned to its owner as per Nationals ruling.
  8. Exhaust as standard size, configuration and position as produced by engine manufacturer from exhaust port to collectors, silencer free.****

Penalties and Disciplinary Action

As previously mentioned, the spirit of the F600 class is to create, close, cheap racing by utilising budget components and unmodified engines.

Such regulations are open to abuse if not policed correctly and therefore strict, thorough scrutineering is required of each of the competing F600's in order to ensure that the regulations mentioned in the "Rules and Regulations" section are adhered to.

Competitors who are found to be attempting to obtain a performance advantage through consciously breaking the rules will be found and will be brought before the committee for disciplinary action.

Ignorance is not an excuse. If you buy an engine, ensure it is standard, if you buy a chassis, please ensure it conforms to the regulations before you turn up.

The committee running the F600 class and the BF600C are educated in all aspects of chassis design and engine modification and will pick up anyone who is found to be cheating.

ECU's Carburettors, Exhaust Primaries etc... can be easily checked, and will be.

If you suspect anyone is cheating then please inform the committee in writing (confidentiality assured). This will then be logged and the relevant checks performed.

All decisions are at the sole discretion of the F600 Committee.
